Goods and property worth millions of naira were yesterday lost to fire incidents, which broke out at Oko-Baba Sawmill, Ebute-Meta, Ebano Supermarket in Lekki and Ajegunle, Lagos.
The Oko-Baba inferno gutted several shanties and planks. It came a few months after a similar incident occurred at the place.
A witness said the fire started about 4:15pm from one of the chalets in the area. He said: “Someone was refilling a generator which was in use in one of the chalets used by prostitutes. The generator caught fire and exploded. The fire spread quickly to other structures, which by their nature are combustible.”
